Pop Reverence from Rushton Phillips
Friday May 09, 2008

Remember this Madonna? Before the Britney make outs, Kabbalah transformation, and Timberlake collaborations, Madonna was a young woman sporting cone boobies, ready to rage and unafraid to push the boundaries around religion and pop music.
We have to admit we miss that Madonna, but luckily Rushton Phillips has brought her back with a series of graphic creations called Pop Reverence.
Juxtapozing images of the “Queen of Pop” with icons of Catholicism, Phillips explores the commercialization of mass media and how it has affected the moral status quo for contemporary society.
