Opening Night: "From The Streets of Brooklyn" at Thinkspace
Thursday January 15, 2009

From The Streets of Brooklyn, the wide survey of the many street and graffiti artists who call Brooklyn their home, opened to a packed house last weekend at Thinkspace Gallery in Los Angeles. Curated by Brooklyn's Ad Hoc Art (represented above by co-founder Garrison Buxton, center, and director Andrew Michael Ford, right, with Thinkspace's Andrew Hosner, left.)
This show features almost 50 artists, including AIKO, Dan Witz, Swoon, ELBOW-TOE, Gaia, Imminent Disaster, Josh MacPhee, Maya Hayuk, and more. Yeah, they went all-out on this one- just get a load of that wall below. Does that even look like Thinkspace?
Wheat pastes, stencils, murals, installs and (of course) tags and piece ups are all recognized and included in this incredible examination of what is currently going on and staying up in the streets of Brooklyn, New York.
