Student artists are the future of the creative world; therefore we always love hearing from high school students that follow Juxtapoz (this lady obviously has a good head on her shoulders). Meet Cariza Carrete, a young artist based out of San Diego, California.

Carrete utilizes a variety of mediums in her quest to perfect her aesthetic. She tells us that the above JZ, in the trademark Juxtapoz typography, is inspired by her favorite artist, Mike Giant (Juxtapoz cover #80).

It’s obvious Carrete does far more than doodle in her notebook during history class, as these finished works exhibit a wide range of interests and styles. The record player was completed in charcoal, while the skull piece is in the art classroom at her school. Painting on school property? The principal at our high school was definitely not so open-minded.

Keep up the good work and who knows…maybe in a few years you’ll be seeing more of Miss Cariza Carrete.
