Mary Iverson’s geometric pieces may seem slightly trendy, but the fact is that Iverson has been experimenting with form and shape for over a decade, since 1996. Iverson will offer San Francisco residents a treat with her new series, Frontier.

The show will consist of smaller mixed media pieces on wood and larger oil paintings on canvas.

“Iverson’s painted ‘containers’ have a haunting quality as they sit way out of place on top of beautiful scenery,” explains Meighan O’Toole. “By reclaiming pages directly ripped from environmental magazines, Iverson responds to the exploitation of our natural reserves through planting her paint wherever she sees fit. Her invasive containers work as a metaphor within these ‘stolen’ pages.”

Frontier opens on January 22nd at Park Life in San Francisco.
