Art and drinking, friends and family, loud live music and a collaborative art project in honor of a fallen hero rocked Portland on Friday January 8th.
The opening night of I Am Snowboarding, a traveling art show in memory of snowboarder Jeff Anderson, was a hit, and marked yet another of Nemo Design’s impressive art gatherings.
The show began early and ran late. When Kandy Coded, snowboard legend Jamie Lynn’s band, played the night was in full force, but prior to the garage rock party ender socializing, laughter, a DJ and a hall of collaborative art pieces entertained and amazed.
Plenty of artists and athletes were lurking about the show. Besides Jamie Lynn snowboard legend Terry Kidwell was in attendance. Man of Portland’s local pro snowboarders could be seen enjoying free drinks, and a slew of the great photographers and riders enjoyed bumping into each other and reliving past memories brought on by the nature of the event.
The show also hosted a raffle, filled with plenty of gifts for a gear loving crowd. Coal headwear, Skullcandy headphones, Electric Visual, Vans, Smith, Burton and Lib Tech all gave enough gear away to leave a great percentage of the crowd happy.
The next stop of the JLA I Am Snowboarding tour is January 28th through the 31st in both Denver, Colorado and Aspen, Colorado. If you can make it, you should.
Here is a short video that captures the atmosphere of the event: JLA- I Am Snowboarding & Candi Coded at Nemo from Nemo Entertainment on Vimeo.
