Paris-based photographer Guido Mocafico’s stunning portraits of these slithering creatures strips them down to their essential elements: the texture of their scales, the geometric patterns of their skin, their flickering forked tongues and those beady eyes—no outer environment needed. The result is this mesmerizing photo series, Serpens.
