So you’re strolling around Los Angeles, and suddenly you see a giant pink figure hand in hand with a girl who looks like she stepped out of Alice in Wonderland. That’s a ChouChou and a Gary Baseman Tar Pit Girl, getting you hyped on Giggle and Pop! this weekend at the LACMA.

“I am having a real surreal event with 12 girls in my lil Baseman dresses and 12 folks in my ChouChou costumes over at LACMA,” Gary Baseman tells us.

“I have a wonderful songwriter Carina Round creating an original nursery rhyme for the event, and a choreographer too.”

Baseman's Giggle and Pop! is slated for this Saturday, June 12th at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Presented in the artist's favorite childhood haunt of the La Brea Tar Pits, Giggle and Pop! will feature Baseman's ChouChous and the Tar Pit Girls. The 24 characters will engage the crowds at the park and museum, spreading festive vibes and artful amusement.

Performances at 12pm - 1pm - 3pm (with vignettes in between and until 4pm).

Hear more from Basemen on his ChouChou character in reading an interview we conducted with him last year here.
