We’d like to introduce you to Krista Huot, an emerging artist we pretty much fell in love with after one glance at this new acrylic beauty, titled Absinthe.
Inspired by childhood storybooks, fairytales, and the forests of Northern Canada where she was born and raised, Huot studied painting and is a classically trained animator. She currently resides in Montreal, and will be a featured guest artist at Los Angeles’ Corey Helford Gallery during Tiffany Liu and M. Mararian’s Inky Dreadfuls dual solo shows, which open this weekend, Saturday July 19th.
Huot spends her time developing her stylized art technique as well as “howling, orgiastic frenzies, animation, reanimation and ritual murder,” according to her online bio. We’re not sure about the ritual murder (perhaps there’s no one left to confirm or deny Huot’s alleged hobby) but some of her paintings are do damn cute, we’d almost resort to murder to get our hands on an original.
