Unless you were too busy cupcaking on Valentine’s Day this past Saturday, we hope you were able to make it out to the opening of Lisa Mei Ling Fong’s solo show, Encompass.
Currently the Properties Intern at Berkeley Repertory Theatre and represented by Strychnin Gallery Berlin/New York City/London, Lisa’s "Eerie Art" projects are a reflection of her works in technical theatre building involving sets and props, as well as her upbringing and career as a travel agent. Her inspiration comes from “travels, inspirational conversation, the significance in a string of events, an outrage, a person, a desire to mark history, mortality and human existence.”
One of the coolest things about Lisa’s work is their titles. The title of each piece lends the viewer an insight into the particular motivation of her introversion box. Some themes include: Bread of Life (growth in spirituality), Embrace of the Night Sky (finding balance/partnership), Childhood Dreams (family), and Continuum (metamorphosis).
Lisa Mei Ling Fong’s Encompass is currently displayed at Gallery Three in San Francisco. And don’t worry, if for some reason you just couldn’t make it out of bed on Valentine’s Day for the opening, Encompass will remain on display at Gallery Three until March 7th. More info and show pieces here.
