Photographer Leee Black Childers’ (of Andy Warhol and David Bowie fame) upcoming exhibition brings together older photos of drag queens and rent boys from the Factory and Ziggy Stardust days with their contemporary counterparts.
Believing them to be outcasts whose “natural habitat” is shrinking with growing gentrification in urban neighborhoods, Leee found success in locating his recent subjects on the Internet, via live chat rooms. His photos--old and new alike--depict an obvious fondness and sensitivity for his subject matter.
There is an artist reception on September 26th from 6-9 at Subdivision Art, Long Island City.
