D*Face "Going Nowhere Fast" at Corey Helford Gallery
Thursday March 31, 2011 |
![]() London's D*Face will be opening a solo show, Going Nowhere Fast, at Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles this April 9, and we have a few preview images of what is in store for what appears to be quite a large exhibition. People are calling it "sensational." After doing a portrait of Pope Benedict XVI for The Vatican, you only have sensational to get to. Hard to top that. As for the show itself, "D*Face challenges society’s fascination with celebrity through his satirical exploration of fame, power and material-obsessed culture. Transforming the gallery into a multi-media vault of aPOPcalyptic new works, D*Face immortalizes the deaths of America’s most illustrious icons from Andy Warhol to Michael Jackson with an all-star milieu of new paintings, sculptures and installations. Also on display will be “Flutterdies”, an unusual sculpture series fashioned from authentic butterflies and insects combined with spray can caps that D*Face has collected over the years. Going Nowhere Fast will culminate with a shocking red carpet experience on opening night." Again, if you are going to top a portrait of the Pope, you have to go as big as humanly possible. ![]() ![]() ![]() (portrait by Cedric Violett) D*Face Going Nowhere Fast April 9—April 27, 2011 Corey Helford Gallery Culver City, California Related Articles
