Another Look at the Marvelous Ehren Elizabeth Reed
Sunday March 28, 2010 |
![]() We were so impressed with the sewn mixed media works of San Francisco based artist Ehren Elizabeth Reed, that we had to delve a bit deeper. Reed utilizes classic thread and paper items (think books, maps, and index cards) and infuses them with a modern twist for work that is unique and meaningful.
“My recent work relies upon books, maps and other found materials as I blend together traditional craft, contemporary media and remnants of consumer culture to investigate interpersonal relationships and contemporary culture,” Reed writes on her website.
“My process employs digital media reinterpreted through stitching and embroidery, creating works that develop a conversation between the ethereal world of technology and the hand-hewn physicality of craft.”
