Alexis Amann is one of our new favorites. She had us at "Girl Loves Piranha Plant." A Mario Brothers/Little Shop of Horrors reference wins our heart every time. Aside from cross-species love affairs with carnivorous plants, Alexis' work also gets a spot close to our hearts because of its presentation. Most of her paintings are pretty non-traditional in shape (i.e. not a rectangle), and we are digging that right now. And finally, her name spells Alex Is A Mann, which is probably just a twisted Ouija message from beyond. For all the above reasons and more, Alexis gets a gold star in our book. We recommend that you clear a place on your calendar for her upcoming show at New Image Art Gallery in West Hollywood, which opens November 17th.
