On August 12, 2011, September 2010 cover artist, Retna, will release a new limited print, Fuel. The print is printed on a 40-inch, 6-color sheet fed Lithographic press, with a 20″ x 20″ trim size, on 140# Speckletone Cover Stock “Starch White.” That is print talk. We aren't quite sure what to make of this project by Lucas Mongiello, titled 20/20. He places various toys and Happy Meal figures in a capsule, stacked perfectly, and takes photographs of his artificial worlds, making them appear as a bizarre, surreal universe of childhood happiness and collectibles. A large group of selected ticket holders gather at the Toy Tokyo Booth for the unveiling of "Patchwerk". A number of vinyl figures hand painted by Pushead, there's never enough for the number of fans waiting patiently, but there was something for everyone in line and the fans with the higher numbers were able to bring something home. Mad Magazine is celebrating their 50th anniversary this year, and had a couple special exhibits at Comic Con 2011 to celebrate. One of the exhibits was a group of artist renditions of their infamous Spy Vs. Spy characters. Sam Flores, Sket One, and Abe Lincoln Jr. are just a few of the 30 different artists that they enlisted to work on the project. Read More

We just got this new book sent to our office, Labeling America: Popular Culture on Cigar Box Labels, and it is a great collection of old commericial artwork and how elaborate tobacco companies used to present their products. The range of years covered are 1849—1971. Read More
