Juxtapoz Blog

Sydney artist Ben Frost is most well known for his confronting and often controversial Pop Art paintings. Using a collage style of unlikely juxtapositions, his artworks are complex mash-ups of popular culture that poke fun at our media and advertising obsessed society. He enjoys playing with his punk band Danger of Death and spending time with his pet beagle 'Bowie'.

I'm selling a few smaller pieces that are studies for my next exhibition -
mostly to raise money to buy new brushes/hair gel/mosquito nets etc.

These are cute and fun, small pieces - check them out if you'd like something small
and quirky..

GO GET YOUR SHINE BOX exhibition
opening Nov 21st at Brooklynite Gallery  www.brooklynitegallery.com

Here's the box I painted . .
The idea of the show is how you would make a living at the end of the world - (ie now)
I decided I would become a Cereal Killer.
What that means, I'm not quite sure, but I know it would definitely snap, crackle and pop!
I think I would come around to your house while you are sleeping and do horrid things to your
coco pops/corn flakes/fruit loops etc - then eat your brains/rifle through underwear drawers/
play backgammon with your eyeballs etc.

My television has broken and I've kind of been wandering around my house and studio trying toreconcile a life without Life Insurance commercials and Judge Judy.

When I switch the poor thing on, all it gives me is a single horizontal line about 1cm high and the rest is black.
I can still hear Judge Judy at around 3pm, and from the way she speaks, it's kind of like she's calling out to me to save her from inside the 1cm high horizontal line.
It's probably not a great idea to publicly admit that the characters in my television are talking to me, but I know Judy is trying to tell me something.

CREON came down to the studio last nite and we painted this painting called 'Killer Life'.  He had previously done most of the background -  the werewolf and the man being torn apart, and i just added the text, speech bubble and colonel sanders.

Hopefully we will get a new television soon, and Judge Judy will give me her opinion on this little painting.
