Ana Ferraz is a 25 year-old girl from Porto Alegre, Brazil. She is a huge underground and alternative comic book fan, which is what brought her interests into the art world. Her major interest is focused on that blurred line where illustration and fine art mix; creating figurative images and extraordinary characters, not only from cartoonists, but also from graffiti, skateboard, zine makers, punk records. She's not an artist, but she makes zines and draws a lot. She used to be an art director and illustrator for advertising agencies, but now she manages noz.art, a creative studio focused on art projects with her partner in crime Lucas Ribeiro. She also pays the bills writing about art, design, illustration, comics and music for two Brazilian magazines: Vista Skateboard Art and Void. ana@noz.art.br

Yesterday I had the chance to check the opening of Luciano Scherer first solo show at a major gallery (Thomas Cohn, São Paulo). It was just a few minutes before my flight to Porto Alegre, so I had to check everything really quickly. Luckily I did a small interview with Luciano last week for Void website, and it`s a perfect time to translate and publish here. Check out Luciano`s amazing artwork.

We have a column on Vista Magazine, called Visita (visit), written by Lucas, where we show and talk about cool places we`ve been, like artists studios/homes, galleries, cool stores, etc. On the last issue we featured Flourish Studio, that is currently our favorite place to stay in Sao Paulo (we will have our own place, soon!). Flourish is a creative studio, founded by Flavio Samelo and Jayelle Hudson, both artists and photographers.  And it`s actually where they work and live, so there`s a lot of awesome personal stuff, such as their art collection, books and many many plants.

Check the pages from Vista and some exclusive pictures bellow. We usually make the pictures, but, since they`re both amazing photographers,  we tough it would be much better if they did it.

In January we (noz.art) were invited to curate an art section at a Passport Scotch giant party. We and the artists Mateus Grimm and Trampo were taken to Florianopolis, an island, in the state of Santa Catarina, known by it`s beautiful beaches. Together with the artist Mateus Grimm (that happens to be an architect also) we created big acrylic panels, in which they could draw on both sides, and with a pack of fluorescent green lights. The effect was amazing, as the artists drawings. Check some pictures bellow.

+SOMA #16 is out not. It features an amazing exclusive cover by Gary Baseman, and a Baseman and Shag interview. Plus, an article and interview I did with young artist Lidia Brancher. I`ll post about Lidia here soon, but for now, you can check the pages and her awesome artwork.

Jayelle Hudson is an artist, photographer and a multi-tasking girl at Flourish Studio. I interviewed her, so check it out.

Where are you from and where do you live now?
I was born and raised in a small town called Lynnwood. It is 15 minutes north of Seattle. I usually tell everyone that I'm from Seattle because it saves me having to explain what Lynnwood is.
Right now I'm living in Paraiso, Sao Paulo.
