Breast Portraits by Kara Maria (NSFW)

Juxtapoz // Thursday, June 28, 2012
Kara Maria’s work fuses abstraction and representation. She hopes the work communicates a sense of humor and playfulness as well as an engagement with the state of the world we live in today. Although many issues are referenced, the work itself remains non-linear, seeking to raise questions rather than to give answers.

Nike x Levi's x Omar Salazar Collaboration

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, June 27, 2012
From our brothers at Thrasher Magazine: Omar Salazar and videographer Benny Maglinao are two incredibly talented dudes. Levi's and Nike gave them the opportunity to take this video short into their own hands, and the result is something Hollywood production companies with million dollar budgets could only dream of making. Chalk another one up for the skaters.

Over the course of two weeks, a popular section known as “the triangle” lying between two streets in the Dumbo neighborhood of Brooklyn has been getting a face life by Brooklyn artist, David Ellis.  An internationally exhibited artist, who has shown at the famed Deitch Projects as well as the MOMA, is also the unofficial founder of the collaborative crew “The Barnstormers,” which contains members such as Swoon, Kami, Sasu, and Maya Hayuk.

The Work of Hideaki Kawashima

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, June 27, 2012
We have been fans of Japan's Hideaki Kawashima for years, and his standout exhibition, Turning, at Richard Heller Gallery last year had some stunning works. Of course, when we read that the artist had studied under Nara for a few years and had also spent a two years as a Buddhist monk, the intense and focused serenity and influence in the works made us enjoy Kawashima even more.

Super Issue No. 1

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, June 27, 2012
We just picked up the latest offering from 607Visual, a 12 page full-color newspaper simply titled SUPER. Curated and published by 607Visual, Super is a collection of creative-writing, photography, painting, design, illustration, and more. Super has the feel and heart of a 'Zine but takes the shape of a newspaper. It is great to see images on a large scale, when it seems like anything print is just getting smaller these days.

The Work of Marc Bell

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, June 27, 2012
Marc Bell will soon be showing in the group show Zagga Zow at Cooper Cole Gallery in Toronto, and we thought this was as good time as any to show a few works from one of our favorite illustrators/comic/cartoonists/artists. Apart from creating the comic Shrimpy and Paul, his monograph Hot Potatoe is a must have, and the Canadian artist has been featured in various publications such as Kramers Ergot and The Ganzfeld.

The Photography of Elizaveta Porodina

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, June 27, 2012
This isn't the first time we have showcased the fine art and fashion photography of Munich's Elizaveta Porodina; it was when we came across this photo, King Volcano, that reminded us how much we are enthralled by the young photographer's work.

Fantasy Worlds by James McCarthy

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, June 27, 2012
James McCarthy has a wild imagination, one that he has high command over and can spill out into his artwork. The artist creates highly detailed, surreal universes that look like carnivals on distant planets. Where Dali meets science fiction...

Clever Body Art by Japan's Chooo-san

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, June 27, 2012
Art can be simple. You can entertain yourself for hours on the internet, finding the weird, the funny, and the bizarre, and when we came across the work of Japanese art student Chooo-San last night, we were highly entertained. Painting on her body to create an almost animated illustion, she creates fun scenarios that make her appear to be part cartoon.
