Illustration // Wednesday, May 23, 2012
Stuart Whitton began to express himself creatively at a young age, by drawing various elements from his imagination and his surroundings. Using traditional mediums he creates imagery tailored to his perceptions. A careful discretion of detail is utilised to develop a visually appealing relationship between meticulously drawn ethereal illustrations of the human form, objects and typographical elements...

"The Great Gatsby" Official Trailer

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, May 23, 2012
Does F. Scott Fitzgerald's penultimate text, perhaps American literature's penultimate text, really need a full exploding screen experience directed by Baz Luhrmann, the man who made Moulin Rouge and the techo Romeo + Juliet? From the first trailer for the new update to The Great Gatsby, it actually may be pulled off and not have everyone running for the aisles.

Winner @ Sci-Fi London Film Festival: "Future, Inc." by Future Tense

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, May 23, 2012
This is quite good, especially considering the Sci-Fi London Film Festival asks of entries to make a 5-minute film in only 48 hours. And if you have ever made a film, that is quite hard to do. On top of that, the festival organizers give each group of filmmakers the props, title, and the theme, and tell them to have at it. This year's winner is Future, Inc, by Future Tense. Again, only 48 hours...

New Banksy Paintings and Outdoor Works

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, May 23, 2012
Every few months, you get a Banksy piece popping up in public, a nice witty thing that circulates the web and gets everyone in a tizzy. But you rarely get to see a new chunk of Banksy paintings get posted on his site in a grouping, and the Bristol, UK-born artist just gave us a nice update of what he gets done in the studio. We always liked his "Sorry: The Lifestyle You Ordered is Currently Out of Stock" motto.

The exhibition, featuring acrylic and gouache works on vintage newspaper, is inspired by Hecox’s recent walks across lower Manhattan and west Brooklyn.

Tattooed Bananas by Phil Hansen

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, May 23, 2012
Just another artist who used the natural oxidation process on banana skin to create art. Phil Hansen pierces a banana with a pin and then lets the skin oxidize. And this is the result... is it this simple? Why are wasting our bananas in our cereal? We prefer a greenish banana, but we would eat a masterpeice...

Animal Portaits over Photo Portraits by Charlotte Caron

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, May 23, 2012
A very simple idea, with a nice effect, involving the humanization of animals, and animalizing humans, by French artist, Charlotte Caron. The artist says of the series, "This series of paintings, photographs, are trying to respond to a form of duality... ultimately creating an osmosis between the two mediums, between the animal and the portrait."

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, May 23, 2012

The Work of Ben Steers

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, May 23, 2012
Ben Steers' work is a mix and match of different graphic styles with influences ranging from 80?s animation to early graffiti. His work always retains an element of humour and playfulness that reflects his fun-loving character. There is a nostalgic, vintage look and feel to his character illustrations that is reminiscent of the traditional craft of drawing though his choice of medium is contemporary.
