Preview: Clark Goolsby "Shatter" @ Circuit 12, Dallas

Earlier this year, we profiled the works of Clark Goolsby, an up and coming artist who had some very interesting collage-like paintings with bright colors and often-abstract arrangements. Now, the NYC-based, Northern Californian-bon artist will open an exhibition at Circuit 12 Contemporary in Dallas, Texas this November 23, 2013, featuring 12 new paintings under the title, Shatter. 

Alex Pardee and Co. for "We Can Be Heroes" Charity Auction

As you may have seen on our Instagram account in recent weeks, we are working with Alex Pardee on a new project that will come to fruition in a few weeks. But in the meantime, Alex, along with Jonathan Wayshak and Dave Correia, were commissioned by DC to create paintings in the vein of the much anticipated, upcoming Batman vs Superman film, to be auctioned off for the We Can Be Heroes charity. The pieces are currently up now, and were unveilved at a special event for the release of the "Man of Steel" blu-ray edition last week in Los Angeles...

Christina Hess: Animals from History

Christina Hess is an illustrator whose work focuses on nature, animals and people, most outstandingly this series of portraits depicting famous historical figures reimagined as dogs, cats and other furry replacements. This series was designed and released in the fall of 2013 on Amazon and iTunes. Hess says that she enjoys incorporating detail and decorative elements into the work she creates, a perfect inclination for a hybrid project such as this.

Some shows need to be seen in person, in a big spacious gallery, where gigantic canvases can overwhelm you in their peaceful positioning. And even though we just used a bunch of words that mean there are big paintings hanging at Regen Projects this month in Lari Pittman's "From A Late Western Impaerium," there are also highly detailed drawings and paintings that also suck you into their mysterious language and context. We Make Carpets' Origami Floor

We Make Carpets is a trio of artists who mix traditional skills and a critical view of the consumer society in unusual carpets. This particular carpet is constructed of over 20,000 folded A4 pieces of paper and fills 500 square meters of an old industrial hall in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.

Pushing those the CMYK or RGB sliders around will only get you so close and when is the last time you updated your Pantone set? That's why we were so excited to this; the SwatchMate Cube. This month, Juxtapoz announced a special capsule collection of prints we curated on, featuring works from artists in the Juxtapoz community, including Mario Wagner, Kelly Tunstall, Ferris Plock, and Trystan Bates. Also, our collection features one of our favorite abstract painters, and Barnstormer, Kenji Hirata. The NYC-based artist has been featured in the print magazine in the past, but in recent years, has expanded his work into multi-colored, playful abstractions.
