Book Release: Travis Jensen's "Wish You Were Here"

Fresh off a photo exhibition at the Hipstamatic offices here in San Francisco, Travis Jensen just released a new photography book, Wish You Were Here. Shooting works entirely with an iPhone 4 and Hipstamatic's John S. Lens and Blackeys Supergrain Film combo, Jensen captured the characters and scenery that makes San Francisco the unique place that it is.

Faile's "Wolf Within" in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia

Last month was busy, so busy we forgot to mention that Brooklyn-based collective, Faile, installed a sculpture entitled “Wolf Within” at the National Garden Park in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The piece depicts a man on his knees cloaked in a wolf pelt tearing away at his two-piece suit.

Andres Serrano's Piss Christ (1987), which has always been the subject of outrage and controversy for those of the right wing, has now been brought into a new dialogue with an artwork by none other than conservative radio-host (and resident moron) Glenn Beck in his amateurish and kitsch Obama in Pee Pee which is very much just that. The immature title fits quite well, because the ironic gesture is done so on a very low budget.

Oliver Marin is cartoonist and illustrator from France. Most of his work depicts the dark haired vixen Margot, a repeating character in many of his books, comics and publications. His signature is heavily graphic, reminiscent of older comics such as Archie, with his solid palette and high contrast coloring.

A Juxtapoz favorite and all around skilled young painter, Aryz, has just completed a new mural in Buenos Aires for Meeting of Styles. A stylish clothed purple horse is seen riding a bike, with a top hat and pipe floating close. The artist chose wonderful colors for this particular large wall. Keep an eye out for something special with Aryz in an upcoming printed issue of Juxtapoz.

Earlier this November, Jux friends opened a new space in San Jose, California, Seeing Things Gallery. To honor the grand opening, they had legendary filmmaker and photographer Bill Daniel kick start the space with a exhibition of photos. The opening celebrated the second edition of Daniel's book, Mostly True and the viewing of Daniel's film, Who is Bozo Texino?

Pearl Jam Art Poster Convention featuring Munk One

Juxtapoz' resident illustrator, Munk One, will be part of a really cool poster art show this weekend, as Pearl Jam's Ten Club will be holding the third annual Ten Club Poster Convention in Seattle at Showbox Market on Sunday, December 2. Munk and Jux friends Jeff Soto and Maxx242 will be creating a live painting throughout the event, which will be available for purchase.
