Baervon Pappe: THE STREETS OF BERLIN

Illustration // Thursday, December 06, 2012
Baervon Pappe is an illustrator with a goal in mind, to explore every street in Berlin and document her findings via adorable collaged drawings, renderings and illustrations. Often times this creative output reflects direct representations of buildings and monuments, while other times its the smaller things that catch her eye, like that little squirrel she saw.

Ed Savage's Comics

Illustration // Thursday, December 06, 2012
The comics of Ed Savage seem to start out mundane and innocent, but somehow, unexpectedly, always end in a bloodbath of fantastical pain and gore. I'm not sure what this all means but I kind of like it. Perfectly fitting for an artist with the last name of Savage- well done Ed. Be sure to check out the rest of his illustration portfolio as well- full of treasures.

Art Basel 2012: A Walk Through the Main Fair

Juxtapoz // Thursday, December 06, 2012
Yesterday morning, Juxtapoz attended the press preview and brunch to honor the opening of the grand ol' fair, Art Basel Miami Beach, the reason why many fairs have grown around Miami during the first week of December. Housing some of the most established galleries in the world (Lisson, Gagosian, Marlborough to name a few), we tried to make our experience the same as we do each year. Just get lost in it all...

The Works of Sweden's Omid Delafrouz

Juxtapoz // Thursday, December 06, 2012
One of the major highlights of Art Basel so far was seeing the work of Tehran-born, Gothenburg, Sweden based fine artist, Omid Delafrouz. With two large-scale works and two studies displayed in the Andréhn-Schiptjenko booth at Art Basel Miami Beach, Delafrouz had a sense of youthful humor and nostalgia quite rare to see in the large fair.

New Mural by Federico Massa

Juxtapoz // Thursday, December 06, 2012
This whale appears in a tight situation, very close to getting engulfed by a number of large octopus arms. The person responsible for this large underwater themed mural is Italian Brooklyn-based artist, Federico Massa aka Cruz. The mural is entitled “Corrientes Furiosas Que Acarician Y Que Destrozan “ which roughly translates to “Petting And Furious currents that destroy” .To view it this work in person, head to Myrtle and Evergreen in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn.

The Works of Miguel Sousa

Juxtapoz // Thursday, December 06, 2012
Presenting, John Lennon and Jimi Hendrix like you've never seen them before! An array of decapitated, floating body parts, weapons and other paraphernalia, mixed with the unthinkable in these creative illustrations of dead rock stars and death arrangements by Miguel Sousa. We like.

Mika Nitta

Juxtapoz // Thursday, December 06, 2012
Amazing illustrative work by the Japanese artist Mika Nitta that I know nothing about. However, with this kind of intricacy, attention to detail and the solid composition and palette that she portrays in her work, all you need to know is that it speaks for itself. Beautiful new find, keep it up young one.

Artificial Girls by Patrice Murciano

Juxtapoz // Thursday, December 06, 2012
Patrice Murciano was born May 27, 1969 in Belfort and grew up in the South of France. Since discovering the possibilities of technology, he has dedicated a gracious amount of time to constructing bizarre photo manipulations, highlighting nude, animatronic women in surreal, sometimes disturbing compositions. To each his own. Weird Science.
