Chris Ware's "Building Stories" Graphic Novel

Juxtapoz // Thursday, November 29, 2012
We don't want to be the ones telling you what to do with your gift giving life this season, but if you are on this website, there is a chance (slight, we know) that you like art. And if you like art, you may have a loved one who likes art. And if that loved one likes art, there is a great chance (almost with 100% certainty do we say this) that he/she would love Chris Ware's new stunner, Building Stories, for a holiday gift.

Top 25 Banksy Pieces

Top List // Thursday, November 29, 2012
Love him, hate him, Banksy will always draw some sort of polarizing opinion. Most people will recognize that the man has wit that reaches the ends of the earth, while others think he is an overrated phenomenon that does not deserve the hype. Where do we stand? Well, simple; what other artist creates such a buzz, such a circus of excitement and debate every time they produce a new street piece or exhibition? Banksy creates EVENTS...

The Fogo Island Studios in Newfoundland, Canada

Juxtapoz // Thursday, November 29, 2012
For this writer, one of the great things about blog/Tumblr culture is that we can find out about very well-informed tastemakers who find some of the most absolutely beautiful places on earth and then hire great architects to put something stunning in that location. This was our morning, where we learned about the jaw-dropping Fogo Islands Studios by Saunders Architecture in Newfoundland, Canada, a collection of three minimal studios that take nature and structure to the absolute max.

A 170-foot Trampoline in a Russian Forest

Juxtapoz // Thursday, November 29, 2012
Somebody had the genius idea to put a 170-foot trampoline in a Russian forest, and we think they should be given a Nobel Prize for Peace. Design firm Salto created the installation, Fast Track, as part of the Archstoyanie festival in Nikola-Lenivets, Russia. Again, genius. This type of innovation stops wars.

James Jean's Mural @ Lane Crawford, Hong Kong

Juxtapoz // Thursday, November 29, 2012
We wrote on the site back in October about James Jean launching his OVM line of jewellery at Lane Crawford in Hong Kong, and he just posted on his site about the mural he painted in conjunction with the launch. The 80" piece was created with Velum. Graphite, Ink, and Digital, and of course, is pretty damn epic in the James Jean style.

Takashi Murakami "Flowers & Skulls" @ Gagosian Gallery, Hong Kong

Juxtapoz // Thursday, November 29, 2012
This is one we wish we could head to Hong Kong for, Takashi Murakami's first show in Hong Kong at Gagosian Gallery. This exhibition explores one of the central dichotomies of his art—between joy and terror, his optimistic magnanimity as an artist and his pessimistic perspective on postwar Japan. It opens/opened tonight, November 29, in Hong Kong.

Skin Flicker by Bela Borsodi

Juxtapoz // Thursday, November 29, 2012
We have noted this work before, but taking another look, we wanted to revisit it. Bela Borsodi was born in Vienna 1966. After studying graphic design and fine art he started to work as a photographer. In 1992, Bela moved to New York and in 1999 he focused on still life photography, which is still the main direction of his work. Bela lives and works in New York.

The Works of Marina Muun

Juxtapoz // Thursday, November 29, 2012
Marina Muun is a Bulgarian artist currently working in the UK. Each of her paintings--often colorfully patterned body-landscape hybrids--"attempt to capture and convey a feeling, a thought or a daydream and infuse them with a sense of the fantastical and a love for detail. Her paintings have a deliberate naive feel although that may not all be true for the subject itself."
