The Man and Mike D's Beastie Boys in the past (the latter an entire issue earlier this year), and we loved that both Mike and the Portugal guys teamed up for a remix of their "Modern Jesus" track. Los Angeles-based artist, Kofie, has been painting abstract geometric shapes and forms long before it became fashionable among the current wave of street artists. Loosely influenced by architectural drafting, Kofie’s work is rich in composition and detail. This piece entitled “Highlander System” was painted at the corner of Highland and Melrose in Los Angeles, with spraypaint and acrylic.

If the year of KAWS hasn't gone well already for the Brooklyn-based artist, he will be opening concurrent exhibitions at Mary Boone Gallery and Galerie Perrotin's new NYC space this weekend, November 2, 2013. Some people would like to have one show. Some people think two would be nice. Some would like just one show in NYC. One in Chelsea? Even better? How about two shows at Mary Boone and Galerie Perrotin, at the same time? On the same day? That is a lot of champagne.  Oh, and he has a museum show in Philly right now. There's that trifecta we were looking for!

Silverlake Conservatory of Music Benefit featuring Neil Young and Red Hot Chili Peppers

This past Wednesday, Juxtapoz attended a special benefit and auction hosted by Flea and Anthony Kiedis, all to benefit the Los Angeles area Silverlake Conservatory of Music. Past Juxtapoz featured artists Thomas Campbell, Retna, Shepard Fairey, Gus Van Sant, Ed Ruscha, and many more were in attendance, with art up for auction to support the school as well. To make it even better, Neil Young and the Red Hot Chili Peppers performed. All and all... a good cause and good night. Here are some of the shots...
