Juxtapoz Blog

Jeremyville grew up in Wonderland Avenue, Tamarama, a sleepy beachside suburb of Sydney, right near Bondi Beach. He played with lots of Lego as a kid, and built and customized model aeroplanes, which were his first 'custom toys', at the age of 8. His customized Darth Vader helmet was recently exhibited at the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburg. Jeremyville is an artist, product designer and author. He self produced his first mass 3D inflatable toy in 1995, and wrote the first book in the world on designer toys called 'Vinyl Will Kill', in 2003. He has also written and produced his second book 'Jeremyville Sessions', and recently has recently worked on several toy projects with Kidrobot, and has a Jeremyville shoe out through Converse. He has been in group shows at Colette Paris, the Madre Museum Napoli, the 796 Arts District in Beijing, and Giant Robot in NY and SF. Converse recently released a Jeremyville Chuck Taylor high top, and Juxtapoz featured Jeremyville in a 12 page article in January 09. He now splits his time between his New York and Sydney studios. Jeremy's parents named him after the blue animated character Jeremy Hilary Boob Ph.D, (the 'Nowhere Man') in the Beatles' movie Yellow Submarine. An auspicious start to a career in art and character design. www.jeremyville.com

for my 2nd spot in Techmag, I was asked to send in images of some of the stuff that I collect, here is a small sample of it. Techmag is an influential monthly lifestyle magazine in China, founded in 2000, based around new trends in fashion, science, design and lifestyle.

Bought a $20 recycled white jacket from some kids at a kerbside stall in Lamrock Avenue just now, I gave the shirtless surfer dude a $50 note, he gave me back 2 x $20's and a $10... when I realised his error, I walked back and gave him his $20. A very Bondi moment.

I'll write this story on a note and put it in the pocket of the jacket. when I sell it the next owner will find the note. Recycled clothes should have little stories hidden within them, to tell the tale of their travels.
