The Ace Hotel in Palm Springs is the new hotspot for fun. Juxtapoz featured it in Style Sheet for the May issue and friends who stayed there raved about it. And I didn’t know what to expect. I am not usually impressed by hotels and would rather stay at Motel 6 than deal with a bunch of fancy attitude.
However, the remodel job on this former HoJo and Denny’s is amazing, and 24 hours at the Ace, felt like I had been away for a week. It’s stylish, mellow and the staff is so friendly, you wonder what they are on. Maybe it’s happy desert water.
Vodka snowcones, $1 Tecate Happy Hour, DJ’s, free cruiser bikes to ride around, great food, a kitschy bar with vinyl booths, art by Evan Hecox, and of course, a photobooth are just some of the perks to keep perma-grin going until you get home.
