I've been on a big Radiohead kick recently (surprise, it comes in waves, but that wave comes every month or so), more specifically it has been a Thom Yorke kick because I have been playing, on repeat, his BBC1 Radio show he hosted with Gilles Peterson this past week. The setlist got me back listening to some favorites, like Mingus, Madlib, Clinic, Doom, Jay Electronica, etc... basically going to BoomKat.com and catching up.
(On a side note, to hear that Thom Yorke and Madlib are perhaps in the works to collaborate is like getting Xmas early. My two musical icons matching up would make me happy... and it would be heavy.... to quote Thom "perfectly possible"... )...
Back from my rant, Radiohead are having a concert in Los Angeles this Sunday, January 24, with hopes of raising money for Haiti through Oxfam. What I like about it, and even though it makes it so I can't quite afford the opportunity to see the show, is that its an auction for tickets, meaning prices are getting higher and higher, and that means more money for Oxfam Haiti relief fund. So good for them to use celebrity and art to get some much needed support down in the Caribbean.
Other than that, have a good week's end.
