Why do we have names?

We want to be able to identify and separate each other from all the people in the world whose paths we cross. We want to endow our children with a place from which they can advance themselves. We want to give them a good start with a great name and set them adrift. We want to honor our ancestry.

As we age, we do a lot of crazy things to our name. We grant it powers, we put it in quotations, we carve it in granite, we drag it through the gutter. We lose letters and shorten it, and add prefixes and titles. Sometimes, we change it to something else entirely........Prince. We can hide behind fake names, or we can make up  better names, like Davis Cleveland and SweatPants and Eos Montana. Our names become us, as we become them.

See what the two parts that comprise your name surface about you with this unique take on identity and connection and overlap. Some surprises for sure. Some mystery for certain. And some overlap from all the other Tom Dick and Harry's out there.
