Barry McGee and Phil Frost's mindthegap exhibition at PRISM Gallery opens publicly tonight; although, I was down last week for the much-buzzed-about initial invite only viewing. Don't hate. I documented virtually all the art and crowd combined to share with you here and now, so have a looksy at what didn't make the mag. It was a who's who of City of Angels shindigs, for real. Hella movers and shakers made the people watching as exciting as the art. Did I mention the shoes? Hold the front door, I now boast an official foot fetish based on the fashionistas' stilts and the guys' chosen kicks. If there's one thing LA does not disappoint with, it's the West Coast's choice of threads. NYC whaaat?
If you're in the LA area, 8746 West Sunset Boulevard, West Hollywood to be exact, through February 20, get your ass into PRISM to witness not only the prodigious artwork filling two floors of well-lit open gallery space, but WestHo's newest designated art space. Period. The brand new PRISM space is something fantastic, and I will say, like no other gallery I've yet stepped foot in. Us West Coasters have PC Valmorbida to thank for this, a man with an eye for architecture and his finger on the pulse of a (left coast's) city's cultural needs.
Plane. Train. Or automobile. Just get there.
