We Traced it its all him he was in Harlem doing theses crazy pieces … He was using paint that wasn’t supposed to be used in that manner … He was already doing Super Burners back then…the idea of using whatever it takes to create your idea… He was using flower paint on the wall…he was using all types of crazy paint that would fade but for those two days or so you would have this crazy color…

Super Burner Lecture
Through complexly layered compositions, Apex and Vulcan’s intricately detailed murals, known as Super Burners, use a overwhelming variety of abstracted forms and color combinations that address formal issues of painting, design, and architecture within the contemporary urban landscape. Hosted by White Walls gallery the lecture and panel discussion with APEX, VULCAN, and NEONSKI, traces the evolution and impact of the Super Burner upon street art.

Public Stencil Workshop @ Myrtle Alley next to White Walls gallery
Open to the public the workshop begins at 3:00 pm. This event is for anyone that is already highly interested in or just curious about the process of making stencils. Feel free to bring home made stencils and or clothing that you wish to have stenciled. Local artists from White Walls Stencil Show will be in attendance and available for questions.

In conjunction with Wonderland
The exhibition Wonderland is a large, multi-sited event born of, and responding to the rich diversities of San Francisco’s Tenderloin district. The tenor of this project is truly unique, and will call upon the collaborative efforts of the neighborhood’s residents, city organizations like the North of Market Community Benefit District the exhibition’s sponsor, and a large number of cutting edge artist teams from the Bay Area and around the world. As in his previous internationally recognized projects, the exhibition’s curator, Lance Fung is dedicated to the ideas of collaboration, community and social engagement as a means of bringing the highest level of contemporary art to audiences from all walks of life.

Given the recent articles in both the San Francisco Chronicle and the New York Times on Street Art in the Tenderloin, this is an auspicious time to engage other institutions to help fully realize Wonderland’s pioneering vision. Thus far, the exhibitions organizers have teamed up with nearly all of the arts establishments and community groups in the area and will work with the media, art schools, and local museums leading up to and during this ambitious art event so that over the course of its month long duration, many thousands of visitors will experience the Tenderloin as never seen before. Wonderland is not merely an art project. It is a platform for our shared insights.
